I used to be a runner. I'm not talking about jogging for exercise. I'm talking competitive national runner, went to college on scholarship kind of runner. Anyone who knows me now probably wouldn't even know that about me. I haven't run a day since college, and that was like 14 years ago! But today I was outside walking our puppy (this creature has more energy than my 4 kids combined), and it happened. I broke out into a jog. I couldn't help it. Maybe she inspired me. Maybe as I drew in the fresh air, I felt more alive. Maybe, as I was walking through our winter wonderland (yes, snow), the beautiful juxtaposition of winter and spring all at the same time overtook me. I don't know. But I can say this - it felt good! It was a different kind of good than working hard all day at home. Maybe that's what I enjoyed so much about it. I'll have to remember this the next time my puppy forces me outside!

It's a Monday!
Everyone knows that the start of the week can be a bit rough for anyone, add in homeschooling 4 kids and you can imagine the rest. Today was no exception. We had discipline issues before school even started, quarreling kids, a dishwasher that overflowed, a barking puppy in need of attention because no one wants to go out in the rain, littlest ones that decided they didn't need a nap today, which makes for one worn out momma. Then I remembered that in EVERYTHING we are to give thanks. No discipline issues would most likely mean I have no kids in the house! A dishwasher that's running all the time means we're well fed. An adorable little puppy reminds me that we've moved to the country and we got that dog that the kids have been asking for. And little kids that don't want to nap most likely will mean tired kids and an early bedtime later. Sleep is in sight! Happy Monday!
